Absolute Favorite!
Last Thursday, I had the chance to attend Élodie Boyer's conference at ESA Saint-Luc.
Since 2002, Élodie has been "building brands," and in 2011, she founded Éditions Non Standard, a publishing house that only releases a book "if it's truly necessary" - in other words, if it brings something unique to the world.
This editorial approach completely won me over. Each book is a collective work, a carefully designed and crafted object that goes far beyond a simple publication.
As soon as I got home, I ordered three of the titles she introduced:
- Lettres du Havre
- Couleurs sur la plage
- Sans
Unwrapping it was an experience in itself:
- Books wrapped in printing test sheets, which double as packaging material or even letterhead paper.
- Handwritten notes slipped here and there, a nod to the conversations from the conference.
- A concept carried through to the smallest detail, with a level of thoughtfulness that makes all the difference. Now, all that's left is to dive into these three gems...
